The past two years have been hard, really hard. Even in the midst of a deadly crisis, our communities did not get the resources they needed while a handful of corporations and billionaires saw record profits. Our families, neighbors have felt the financial and physical impacts of this pandemic deeply. Our communities were left to navigate the consequences of this pandemic without adequate resources or support from our elected officials.

As we move forward, our elected officials must ensure our communities get the transformational resources they deserve and need.

The Build Back Better Act is our once-in-a-generation opportunity to make a real difference in our lives by providing greater education, housing, and job opportunities for our communities.

That is why we as Detroit Action are calling on Congress to act now and pass the Build Back Better Act. Hear directly from Michiganders like you about what Build Back Better could mean for our communities.

The Build Back Better Act would provide universal preschool for 3 to 4 years olds, make child care and college more affordable, and give additional resources specifically to HBCUs. It would make the single greatest investment in affordable housing in U.S. history and provides temporary protection and employment authorization for millions of undocumented immigrants. The Build Back Better Act will also ensure future generations are prepared for our changing climate by investing in our energy infrastructure so that we can achieve an equitable and just 100 percent clean energy economy.

In order to understand how Build Back Better can transform our communities, we will be releasing a 5 part video series where local Michiganders will share what Build Back Better means to them. By telling our stories we can shape our future.
